Symbolizes the confluence of wisdom, courage, temperance and justice
as well as the unity between UWF and FSU. The sculpture’s shadows create
ever changing patterns throughout the day, marking the passage of time.

The sculpture is composed of individual undulant pieces inspired by

SUNSET FLIGHT
Sundial Sculpture
Aluminum, glass mosaic tiles.
Inspired by the beauty of the hummingbird and the fact that many species of them live and thrive in Arizona. The dial is composed of approximately 148,000 glass tiles and depicts a desert landscape at sunset. The sundial’s gnomon evokes a hummingbird in flight sipping from a native flower.
